Open Data Mastermind is a mentoring program for civil servants to create anti-corruption projects based on open data.

Open Data Mastermind, a dynamic three-month incubation program conducted in 2021, was meticulously designed to elevate the proficiency of Ukrainian civil servants and local self-government employees in working with open data. The program's core focus was to enhance skills, enabling participants to develop impactful projects based on open data.

Key components:

  • Ideation Event: Teams pitched ideas, receiving expert evaluations for selection.
  • Mentoring Support: Teams had three months of mentoring from the 1991 Open Data Incubator and top-level experts.
  • Educational Modules: Comprehensive lectures, workshops, and real case analyses were provided.
  • Technical Support: Tailored technical assistance was given for effective project implementation.
  • Promotional Support: Teams received visibility through promotional activities.

Results

The finalists of Open Data Mastermind represented vital government entities, including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety, the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and the State Customs Service.

The program delivered tangible results:

  • Skill Enhancement: Civil servants and local government employees experienced a significant improvement in their skills related to open data utilization.
  • Innovative Projects: The program yielded a diverse range of innovative projects, addressing challenges in sports management, transport safety, public health monitoring, entrepreneurship development, and foreign economic activity.
